Before announcing our winners, I can officially confirm that the Mad River Majors Pool Rules Committee, better known as Myles Bradford, has completed its review.
Following The Open Championship, the committee conducted a thorough investigation into whether John Johnston's previous experience at Royal Birkdale, combined with the fact that he has a place in London, England, provided an unfair competitive advantage over the rest of the field. After carefully reviewing the evidence, the committee concluded that while John's "local knowledge" may have been suspiciously accurate, there was nothing in the Majors Pool rule book prohibiting it. The results have therefore been allowed to stand. Congratulations to John Johnston on winning The Open. He won by retro over second place finisher Doug Moxon. Rounding out the top 3 was Andrea White.
Now that the final major is in the books, we can also crown our season long winners. The results are included below:
1st – Stephen Headford – 52 Under Par – $250
2nd – Francis & Doug Painter – 45 Under Par – $145
3rd – Rosemary McIntosh – 42 Under Par – $95
If it feels like Stephen's name appears on this leaderboard every year, it's because it usually does. Whether it's a weekly major pool or the overall standings, he always seems to find his way into the prize money. At this rate, he may have earned enough in Majors Pool winnings over the years to cover a good portion of his annual dues!
Congratulations as well to Francis & Doug Painter on their runner-up finish and Rosemary McIntosh for rounding out the top three.
Thanks again to everyone who participated this season. The majors may be over, but NFL season is right around the corner. If Stephen happens to be putting together an NFL pool strategy, I'm sure there are a few members, including me, who would happily subscribe.
