With the Masters and the RBC Heritage in the books, it is clear that the golf season at Mad River is right around the corner. In fact, balls will be in the air in a few short days. There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of the new season!
This week’s Post will be somewhat repetitive, but there are some important dates you should be aware of as we get the season going. If you are planning to play in our opening event, season long events and / or wish to participate in our Men’s Member-Guest (MMG) event on July 24th you will find some details below.

A Little Something About Service
At Mad River, service is something we talk about often—but more importantly, something we truly enjoy.
As we begin the season, we are pleased to welcome you back to a beautifully refreshed clubhouse and sunroom—spaces designed for comfort, connection, and enjoying your time at the Club.
You’ll often hear our team described as friendly and genuine, and that’s not by accident. It’s something we take pride in and continue to build together. Whether it’s a warm greeting as you arrive, remembering your go-to drink, or simply checking in at the right moment, our goal is always the same—to be of service in a way that feels natural, not scripted.
Behind the scenes, we spend time talking about what great service really looks like. More often than not, it comes down to small, thoughtful moments—anticipating needs, paying attention, and creating an environment where you feel comfortable and taken care of.
As part of this season’s enhancements, we’re excited to introduce a refreshed self-serve coffee station designed with both quality and convenience in mind. Members will be able to enjoy freshly brewed coffee with each touch, along with cappuccino and hot chocolate selections, a variety of Pluck teas, and a new water station offering still, chilled, and sparkling options. It’s a simple addition that allows you to enjoy what you like, when you like—while our team remains close by to assist whenever needed.

Notes from the Chef Stephen Sagar
As we move into spring, the kitchen is coming back to life with the fresh flavours and ingredients that define the season. Lighter fare, vibrant produce, and familiar favourites return as we prepare to welcome everyone back for another great year of golf and dining.
Alongside our traditional Friday Fish & Chips feature, we are introducing something new this season: our “Souperman Takes Flight” Friday special. Each week, we will showcase a trio of soups, offering a curated flight that highlights a range of flavours, types and seasonal inspiration.

This past Saturday, we held our annual Staff Orientation. One of the final steps as we head towards Opening Day later this week. We have a great crew for this year which includes many familiar faces, and a few new ones. They are as eager as you are to get the season started!
A reminder, the practice range will open on Wednesday, April 29
th at 10:00am, and close at 7:00pm. We will be on mats to start the season, and the short game and practice greens will remain closed until the course opens later in the week. The golf course will open on Friday, May 1
st with tee times beginning at 9:00am.

This early undated photograph (possibly 1990 -1991) captures the beginnings of Mad River’s practice area as construction was underway. What started here would be expanded and renovated over the years to become a key part of the club’s golf experience.
