Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
I grew up in Aurora and attended the University of Windsor, where I earned a degree in Psychology and Disability Studies. Before pursuing a master’s degree, I realized that my true passion was working in golf course maintenance and being outdoors, so I decided to fully commit to a career in turf management.
What do you enjoy most about working outdoors and on a golf course?
I enjoy the variety that every day brings and the attention to detail required to maintain exceptional course conditions. No two days are ever the same, and I appreciate the combination of problem-solving, teamwork, and hands-on work that the profession offers.
What was your first impression of Mad River and its members?
My first impression, and one that continues today, is that Mad River truly lives up to its vision and mission. The Club is incredibly welcoming, and I really appreciate the philosophy of being “a club in the country, not a country club.” There is a genuine sense of community here that makes it a very special place to work.
Do you have a favourite hole on the course yet? Why?
Although I haven’t had the chance to play the course yet, holes 15, 16, and 17 immediately stood out to me because of their dramatic topography and spectacular views. That stretch of the course is visually stunning and showcases the natural beauty of the property.
What’s something members may not realize about the work that goes into maintaining the golf course?
Golf course maintenance requires expertise in many different trades and disciplines. Turf management combines science, environmental stewardship, mechanics, irrigation, and business management, and every team member needs a broad range of knowledge and skills. There is a tremendous amount of planning, precision, and teamwork involved in delivering great course conditions each day.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re away from the course?
Being new to the area, I’ve really enjoyed exploring Clearview and getting to know the surrounding community. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, photography, and art.
What are you most looking forward to this season at Mad River?
I’m looking forward to seeing the current projects completed and helping return the golf course to its pristine condition. Our entire turf team is highly skilled and takes great pride in the course, and we’re excited to reward the membership for their patience and support.
What are some fun facts about you that members may be surprised to learn?
I was one of only three women in a class of 35 while studying turfgrass management at Rutgers University, where I also became the program’s first female class president and graduated second academically in my class. Today, I mentor women who are interested in pursuing careers in turfgrass management, and it’s exciting to see more women entering the industry each year.
Outside of golf, I’m also a retired hockey player who played for the Barrie Junior Sharks, and I know a small amount of sign language as well.
