In our commitment to delivering world class technologies to assist in your learning, we are proud to introduce SAM PuttLab, the world’s most accurate and comprehensive putt analysis and training system. SAM analyzes all parameters of your putting stroke and displays the result in easy to understand graphic reports. If you are a player who tends to burn the edge of the hole, like myself, or if you struggle to manage distance on your putts, like myself, the analysis reveals even the smallest details of your movements and allows you to develop improvements and training strategies to make more putts.
On a recent visit to Scottsdale, I spent two hours at Troon North, working on the SAM PuttLab with one of their professionals. What I learned in those two hours was exactly why my miss is short and to the right. There are 50 different parameters the system will measure, with some of the more critical ones being clubface at address, clubface at impact, the path the club travels on, impact point in relation to the centre of the putter, and the speed and rhythm of the stroke. Regarding clubface at impact and the impact spot on the golf club, here are my results:

To some, the face at impact (left image) would seem quite good, but on a putt of just over 12 feet, a clubface that is 0.8 degrees open would burn the right edge. The image on the right shows that, on average, I miss the centre of the putter by 7.9mm which may not seem like a big deal, but off-centre hits lead to a loss of transferable energy. On the same 12 foot putt, the ball would come up 3 inches short, just based on where the ball made contact with the putter face.
Information like this is invaluable to improving your putting and I am only scratching the surface with these two examples. What the SAM PuttLab does for every golfer is give you the answer to the question “why”. Why do I come up short or race it by the hole? Why do I miss to the right or left? Why do I always owe money at the end of a round? With this information, the answers come much quicker. It could be as simple as a faulty set up, or a function of how the club travels throughout your swing, or even as simple as a putter that is not properly fit for your putting stroke. How important is putting? 43% of your shots in golf are putts. 19% is with your driver.
