Men's Captain's Report - Andrew Senior

7/1/2019

The Member/Member tournament was held on June 26 and 27th and by all accounts was a resounding success.  The format was competitive, fun and designed to keep all teams engaged right up until a  winner was determined in a shoot-out. Credit goes to Paul Sprague and Doug Quanbury who did terrific job organizing this event.

The winner of the event was the two-man team of Angelo Delorenzi and Tom Cunningham who won for the second year in a row. That in itself is an outstanding accomplishment, but what made this year’s result even more special was how they rebounded from a stunning defeat in round 1. Most teams would have folded their tent, or drowned their sorrows after being so thoroughly trounced but not these two resilient veterans. After being beaten like rented mules, they bounced back to win their next two matches in decisive fashion leading to an eventual shoot-out victory.  Well done boys!

As we move into July there are a number of items to keep in mind:

1) Match Play:
Important: please let the pro-shop know the result of your match(s) so the ladder is kept up to date.

2) Men’s Night

For the month of July Men’s Night has been moved to Wednesday. We are currently evaluating several options to boost participation in several events, so please let us know your thoughts on the change of day, the format, and/or the food service. Feel free to provide feedback to me, Pierre Lemaire (Asst Captain), Brian French, or Gary Ward.

July brings one of the highlights of the golfing calendar, the Member Guest to be played July 19. The event is currently sold out with a waiting list. Practice round is July 18 with reduced green fees for your guest and an optional skins game.

The next Medal Play Weekend occurs July 13/14. This is a stroke play event with prizes for low gross and 3 low net competitors. You may sign up to play either Saturday or Sunday.
