I did receive several questions about posting scores over the weekend. For example, when one hole was closed on the front, and one was closed on the back, members were unable to post any score. The reason for this is based on the Rules of Handicapping. A player must complete at least one full nine for the score to be valid. This was the case when #8 was temporarily closed, plus #12 remained closed. For any holes you do not play, you simply leave the score “blank” on Golf Canada. When you try to submit the score, you will receive a message “Your round is not complete”. Below, you will be given two options, EDIT SCORE or POST INCOMPLETE ROUND. Use the incomplete score posting option, and the score will be added to your scoring record and a differential will be calculated based off the holes played.
When we have situations in which a hole is not closed, but modified with a temporary green, you can use the most likely score. This will allow you to input a score for a hole to ensure that you have one nine completed. This is RULE 3.3 in the Rules of Handicapping, and here is a breakdown of how you would proceed:
Keep in mind, this is all temporary and is more impactful during weekday rounds. On weekends, once #12 is open, members will be able to input scores for all 18. If you are planning on playing in club events, it is required that players post every round.
