Here’s a simple 30-minute putting training routine you can start using today:
This isn’t about mindless putting—this is skill-building that transfers directly to the course.

Minutes 0–10: Start Line Training
Set up two tees or coins about a putter-head width apart, 3–6 feet from the hole. Roll putts through the gate to train your ability to start the ball on your intended line. Focus on quiet wrists and consistent face control.

Minutes 10–20: Pace Control
Use one ball and putt to varying distances (10, 20, 30 feet). As you putt, quietly count in your head: “1000 and 1”.  1000 is your backswing, and 1 is contact with the ball.  This is a proven 2:1 tempo that is used by the best players on the planet.  This helps you match feel to time and learn how far your stroke sends the ball. Great pace means fewer 3-putts!

Minutes 20–30: Green Reading Basics
Choose a few breaking putts. Walk around the hole and view the slope from different angles—especially low side and behind the ball. Trust your eyes, commit to your read, and reinforce it with a confident roll.

Apps like Tour Read can provide evidence and feedback that help sharpen your eye and develop the kind of green-reading skills that lead to more competence—and more made putts.

Do this a few times a week and I assure you - you will putt better.
