A reminder for Tuesday games
We will be asking the last group of ladies out to bring in the Closest to the Pin markers as this will help save time determining the winners. There should be 2 players in each group keeping score. One player recording scores on the printed scorecard given to the group by the proshop and another player putting scores into Golf Genius (GG) on their phone. Two sets of eyes are always better than one!
The following week (Tuesday, June 17) will be our first
12:30 pm shotgun start, and the game will be Best ball/Worst ball.
The Fourball and Singles draws have been sent out. The pro shop will have your scorecards ready, just let them know when your match is.
‘Playing with the Pro’ last Tuesday was well attended with another great weather day. We had 31 players in the field and playing pros Brian French, Jacob, Shawn, Myles, Carl and Stephanie joined us. Thank you for giving a tip or two along the way and mostly letting us witness some great playing. For example, our head pro Carl managed to pull off an amazing shot getting himself out of a tricky situation. His ball was covered by growth and mud, (see picture) barely visible in the woods by a stump on the left side of the 8
th green. He was lucky to find it. A swing wasn’t possible as he is a lefty, so using the back side of his left handed 7 iron, he made a shot that came out and landed on the green, swept past the pin, and stopped just before rolling into the tall grass by the pond. His putt back narrowly missed for a birdie! I think I can say on behalf of the ladies, it was a real treat to play with our professionals!
Winning first place goes to Team Shawn (Jane Poulsen, Pat McGee, Heather Johnston, Lauree Patrick). Second place goes to Team Myles (Yvonne Penning, Anne Stevenson, Sharon Van Den Elzen, Cathy Carl). Closest to the pin winners were Kim Edwards and Carolyn Smith and 16’ longest putt winner was Laura Neves.
