Scholarship Results
We had a number of submissions from employees in each department, all were worthy choices and the decisions were difficult. The department managers consider not only the essay they submit, but their work performance this summer, attendance, attitude and overall contributions to the members, Club and culture at Mad River. Each were awarded $1,000 towards their studies.
Roy Emerton – Grounds – Sawyer Hughes – Sawyer has been with us for five years and is now in his second year at Conestoga College taking Engineering.
Tom Sandell – Golf Operations – Hannah Bloemendal – Hannah has been with us for four season and is starting her first year at Carlton studying Engineering.
Food and Beverage – Hannah Metzger – Hannah has been with us for two seasons, she has completed her undergraduate degree in BioMedical Sciences at the University of Guelph and is now pursuing a Master’s in Pharmacology with a focus on developing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
We also offer smaller consolation awards to the following outstanding candidates.
Grounds - Noah Durance (University of West Virginia), Bradley Dawson (York University), Ben Pozzebon (Brock University).
Golf Operations – Claire Pelletier (University of Toronto).
Food and Beverage - Hannah Winstone (Trent University), Rebecca Meadows (Mount Allison University).
We wish them all the best in their studies and hope we see many of them back at Mad River next summer.
