2. Key Swing Concepts
  • Low Point After the Ball: The lowest point of your swing arc should be ahead of the ball. That’s how you ensure ball-first, then turf.
  • Cover the Ball: At impact, your chest should stay over the ball, not hanging back. Think “covering” the ball with your sternum.

3. Training Drills
Towel Drill
  • Place a small towel 2–3 inches behind the ball.
  • Hit the ball without touching the towel — forces crisp, downward contact.
Line Drill
  • Draw a chalk line or place tape on the ground.
  • Set up so the ball is just ahead of the line.
  • Hit the ball and focus on making the divot after the line.
Feet-Together Drill
  • Make half-swings with your feet together.
  • Helps improve balance and eliminates swaying or lunging at the ball.

4. Avoid These Mistakes
  • Hanging Back: Shifting weight to your back foot at impact causes fat or thin shots.
  • Flipping: Releasing the wrists too early ruins your contact.
  • Scooping: Trying to lift the ball leads to hitting behind it.

5. Helpful Swing Feels
  • “Brush the grass in front of the ball.”
  • “Compress the ball into the turf, not scoop it into the air.”
  • “Hold your finish with weight forward and chest facing target.”
