The construction at 12, 17, and 6 is moving along nicely. The construction company is doing final grade at 12 fairway and tees, as well as 17 green site. They are currently adding the last of the greens mix at 6 green. We hope to get 12 fairway and tees seeded this week along with 17 green and finally 6 green by the end of the week. Getting these 2 greens seeded is paramount as the greens will need 20 weeks of growing weather to be able to withstand traffic for play. We hope to have all of the sod complete by weeks end as well. The irrigation has been installed on both 12 and 17, and 6 green site is being installed today. By the end of day Tuesday we should have irrigation in place on all construction surfaces in order to water both the new seed and new sod. Once these areas have been seeded we will be irrigating often in order to keep the seed bed moist. Please be aware, as these sprinklers will be coming on every hour on the hour through the heat of the day. From this week forward, we ask that you not walk or drive through any of the construction zones in order to not disrupt the seed bed areas. It is best to avoid these areas anyways as sprinklers will be running often.
The bunker reconstruction at 15 is well underway. All existing drains have been flushed to ensure that they are working seamlessly. Drainage and Pea Stone are being installed this week. The bunkers at 16 are being reshaped this week as well. The construction team will likely get the drainage stone installed on approximately 10-12 bunkers before they are all treated with the polymer for the Better Billy system.
The sand installation for the bunkers has commenced on the 12
th hole, prior to seed and sod being installed to avoid damage to both. As the construction team works through the rest of the golf course, sand will be installed prior to any sod to avoid further damage to the brand new sod. As we move forward, once final grade is complete, along with seed and sod at 12, 17, and 6, there will be two crews tackling the bunker reconstruction on the rest of the golf course. The rest of this week we will continue with 16 bunkers as well as move to the 13
th hole bunkers if time and weather permits.
The irrigation group will be moving to mainline installation on the front 9 this week. They will be picking up the mainline at 6 green, moving across the 5
th hole over to #4 and down #4 to #3. Once we get to #3, we will have decisions to make whether we carry on with more mainline installation or move to installing sprinklers on individual golf holes. Which would likely be at 10 and 11. These decisions will be largely weather determined.
As always, please remember to fill your divots on any fine turf areas and fix your ball marks on our green surfaces.
Respectfully,
Chad Vibert
