Beginning next week, July 14, Construction of #12 fairway as well as #17 green will commence. #12 will play as a par three and at # 17 the temporary green will be in play and the main green will be closed. As you will recall, in the spring of the year we were able to run mainline over to the edge of the work zone at #12 in order to be ready for irrigation install at #12 once construction is complete.
We have begun to treat our poa annua on our fairways, some of it is really struggling at this point after an extremely hot weekend. This is indeed intentional and designed to give our bentgrass a competitive advantage, please do not be alarmed if you notice some grass that is off colour, we plan to increase our bentgrass populations during the course of this project.
Please remember to avoid collars when using push carts and/or power caddies, extra wear in these areas will not allow the turf to recover. Remember, its not about just one cart causing the wear, it the hundred or so behind and in front of you as well.
