From the engaging fireside chat, where members had the rare opportunity to ask questions and hear Dr. Parent’s wisdom firsthand, to the focused putting and short game clinics that brought immediate results, his time with us was nothing short of exceptional. The on-course lessons, tailored to help members manage their mental game under pressure, gave players a fresh new perspective they’ll carry with them far beyond the fairways.
Our members not only improved their game, but also gained tools to stay present, composed, and confident in any situation. We’re grateful to Dr. Parent for sharing his time and talent with us—and we know the memories and lessons from this visit will last a lifetime.
Staying Focused with a Group Behind You – A Lesson from Dr. Joe Parent
Feeling rushed with a group close behind? It’s a common pressure point—but as Dr. Joseph Parent reminds us, the key is staying grounded in the present moment. Take a deep breath, settle your feet, and focus only on the shot in front of you. Repeat the simple truth: “I can only play one shot at a time.” Don’t rush, because it takes longer to find your ball in the forest than it does to spend a few extra seconds ensuring you are ready to go.
If you’re being held up by a group ahead, remember—you’re not obligated to speed up. You always have the option to politely explain to the group behind you that you’re also waiting. A quick, respectful conversation can ease tension for everyone. Stay calm, stick to your routine, and play your game—not theirs.
