Avian Flu and Poultry
Canada’s Supply Management System (SM) regulates production, imports and prices on poultry. Its goal is to ensure stable and predictable prices for egg, chicken and turkey farmers. One of the measures SM has put in place is to ensure Canadian Poultry farms are small so that, should a virus like Avian Flu appear, they are able to minimize the spread. The United States does not have a regulatory body such as this and, instead, has chosen the large agribusiness model focused on supply and demand producing large quantities of cheaper food. Unfortunately, this model has resulted in an industry-wide spread of the Avian Flu. In 2024, the Avian Flu spread quickly throughout the U.S. and resulted in the devastation of the poultry industry and farmers were forced to destroy all poultry and essentially start new farms. They looked to their neighbour’s to the north to purchase new stock to restart their farms. This has resulted in a poultry supply issue which will mean increased pricing for all poultry products in grocery stores and menus across the nation.
New this Season:
Fix Fuel Superfood Bar: Created by a golfer that understands what you need to stay fuelled out on the course without all the sugar. Cranberry-Seed, Cinnamon-Date, Peanut Butter.
Snack Dispensers: Last year we offered nuts at the table and there were requests for options without nuts so we have purchased dispensers so you can choose. We will rotate nut-free options with pretzels, wasabi nuts, and other yummy treats.
Flavoured Water Dispensers: A variety of fruit infused water will be available at the bar. Mixes include: Cucumber-Lemon, Strawberry-Mint, etc. These will be available starting Victoria Day Weekend.
Import Beer: In addition to Italy’s Peroni, that was super popular last year, we will be offering Stella, Corona, Pilsner Urquell and a Japanese Beer called Orion.
Draft Beer: Back by popular demand, we will have Creemore Lot 9 and Lager, however, the brewery is no longer offering Helles which MANY of our members enjoyed. They have introduced a Light Lager but it will only be available in cans and not on draft. Therefore, we will be bringing in Muskoka Bay Crème Ale in its spot.
So much more coming from your Food & Beverage Team…..
