Notes from our clinic on how to properly mark your ball on the green:
You must mark your golf ball before moving it or it becomes a penalty stroke. You can use almost anything to mark your ball on the green, as long as it is flat and round and resembles the shape of the ball.
Place the marker behind the ball once it has stopped moving. Do not push the marker under the ball as you mark it.
You are permitted to move the ball if requested by another player. Find a stationary object, such as a tree, with which to line up before you move your ball. Don’t forget to move your ball back to its original position before you putt.
If your ball is on the fringe you may mark your ball if someone asks you to. You are not allowed to clean your ball when you pick it up.

Match Play Update –
*Special Message from our Commissioners, Jan Atkinson-Hall and Carolyn Smith:

“We are well underway with our matches, which were launched on May 13th at the Ladies Opening Breakfast.  At that time and via e-mail, everyone was asked to do their best to have at least one match played by the end of June.  Thank you to all who acceded to our request.  In fact, one team has already completed all three of their matches which is above and beyond the call.  Sadly, four teams have not played even one match.  The deadline to complete your three matches is Tuesday, August 22nd, six weeks away.

Between now and then there are a number of activities within the ladies section, Senior Club Championships and Club Championships, to name a couple.  Hopefully, you are aware that Mad River is hosting an important event from July 24th through 27th, the inaugural Canadian Women’s Mid Amateur Championship.  There will be very limited tee times available to the membership that week and many of our volunteers are competing in the Four Ball.  Finally, the golf course will have its mid-summer aeration on August 14th and 15th, followed by several days of healing.  So, six weeks sounds like a lot of time, but the calendar is busy and the clock is ticking.  Please get at it!!!”

Golf Canada
Don’t forget to post your scores in Golf Canada for your most current handicaps.  Please note that you must use the drop down feature to choose the correct tees that you scored from.
Please note: The pro shop automatically posts your scores on golf Canada on Tuesdays.

“Tips and Sips” Date changes – Please mark your calendar
Due to scheduling, the “Tips and Sips” event dates will be changed.   August 3 and August 31 are cancelled.  The last “Tips and Sips” event will take place on August 24 .
