With our season right around the corner, we have started to open our registrations for events and league play. This year, we will continue to use Golf Genius to handle all the registrations for our events. Members will be able to find the links to register in the app if they have it, and by visiting our calendar and clicking on the event. The plan is to have registrations open 4-5 weeks before the event. The only events that will open earlier will be our men’s and ladies’ member guest events, as well as the Ryder Cup and Madheim. There will be more communication in the coming weeks/months to inform members of when those events will be available to enter.
For our members that plan to participate in our weekly league play, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce a new add-on from Golf Canada. Golf Canada has formed the National Golf League in support of The First Tee. Their goal is to sign up 100 clubs across Canada, with approx. 25 from Ontario. We are lucky to have received an invitation to join this League (NGL). There is no cost to our members to participate in this add-on league. Golf Canada will be sending a donation request for The First Tee program; however, it is not mandatory, and members can opt out if they choose.
The format for the NGL is a net stableford competition. Our men’s and ladies’ leagues will have 6 dates before the end of August in which this competition will take place. On those dates, you will play your regular game for 18 holes. Golf Canada will then take your front or back 9 score (pre-determined which 9 holes will count) and create a leaderboard. The male and female golfer at the club that has the highest stableford score (best 4 of 6 to count) will qualify for a regional final in the fall. The number of qualifiers we can send to the regional finals will be based on the number of participants in our program. The top finishers at the regional finals will compete in the national final which is scheduled for Canadian Open week at Hamilton Golf and Country Club. This is a very exciting opportunity, so we are encouraging all members to sign up. The links to sign up for these programs is provided below:
