We feel lucky to be able to play golf at such a beautiful club and have made many wonderful friends at the Mad. We immediately embraced our membership, and both got very involved with the club at an early stage. I became a member of the ladies’ social committee and worked with Sandy Higgins and several other volunteer lady members. That was a great experience for me, which will help me in my new role to understand the bigger picture at the club.
I look forward to working with my Vice Captain, PA Irwin-Allen. PA and I are really looking forward to this season of golf. We have several exciting events planned again this year and look forward to sharing these with you.
Please plan to attend this year’s Ladies Opening Breakfast on May 13. Malcolm and Michelle are busy planning a delicious hot breakfast buffet for us before we go out and play a shot gun game of Best Ball.
Our Tuesday ladies’ league continues to be a fun morning, starting with rule reviews and golf tips, then shot gun golf. PA and I have planned a number of fun team games for the Tuesday mornings so please plan to come out, no matter your skill level, and meet some ladies for fun golf. Three games out of the month are team games, using your handicap for scoring. The other Tuesday in the month will be “play your own ball” and teams will be flighted. You can also choose to play nine holes at 11:00 am.
Our Thursday games are casual games. The pro shop has set aside a number of morning tee times for us. Come out and play your own ball as no games are scheduled for Thursdays. Please plan to contact the pro shop for a tee time.
If you like to challenge yourself and enjoy a little competition, there are different ways in which you can participate. The club championships are always fun. As well, there are matches that you can sign up for. You can sign up for a match with a partner (Four Ball) and there are singles matches if you like to play on your own against another individual.

My husband Dave and I joined August 2019 and we like to say it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made!
Each time we drive into the club, we remember how great it is to be part of such a welcoming community and challenging golf course.
We can’t wait for opening day and the season ahead. I’m looking forward to assisting Karen in delivering a fun and enjoyable ladies golf experience at Mad River.
