Singles Match Play Continued
“Sign up is open now and will remain open until June 1.  Shortly thereafter, the brackets will be posted online and on poster boards next to the ladies’ locker room.  So that you are aware of what’s ahead, game one needs to be scheduled with your opponent and played by July 9.  The second game needs to be completed by Aug 10.  For those remaining in the competition, round three deadline is Aug 31 and should there be a need for a fourth round, Sept 17 is the due date.  In setting these deadlines, regard has been had for the Mid-Am, Club Championship and other scheduled events along with the Four Ball Match Play deadlines.  Keep in mind that matches can be scheduled and played on Tuesday if necessary.
Let the games begin and best of luck to all participants.”

Recap on May 23’s Clinic, “Putting – Green reading” from Marshall:
As you are approaching the green, look at the slope of the green from a distance.  Once you get to your ball, start reading the putt from behind the ball and read what will happen on the first half of the putt.  Then go to the lower portion of the green, about halfway between the ball and the hole, to get a better understanding of the amount of break.  Go behind the hole to read the second half of the putt.  With this information, you can now have a better understanding of what the ball will do.  Remember that uphill putts will break less because the ball is travelling faster and the opposite will happen with downhill putts.  When doing your practice stroke, focus on the target and when your eyes come back to the ball, make the putting stroke right away.  This way you have no time to think.  It’s all about the target.

Note:
Don’t forget to record your great gross scores in the white ringer binder located outside the pro shop under the computer.
