One of the challenges we face this time of year when the golf course is still busy is the lack of daylight. In season, our tee sheet on weekends opens at 7:00am. During the Thanksgiving weekend, our first tee time will be 8:30am. If we have a full tee sheet from 7:00-8:30am, that accounts for 9 tee times totaling 36 members. This is why I would like to remind everyone that it is their responsibility to notify the pro shop if they need to cancel their tee time. No shows are an issue at every club that becomes magnified at this time of year. We completely understand that plans can change, even if you call the shop a couple of hours before your scheduled time, that might be enough to help fit another group of members. Our goal is to maximize the tee sheet every day, especially this time of year when there are so few great days remaining on the calendar.
Gary and I continue to gather feedback on walk-on times. I would like to remind everyone that we currently
only offer walk-on times Monday – Thursday. On these days, the first half hour is walk-on, followed by one per hour starting at 10:30am. On Fridays, weekends and holidays, all tee times must be booked since walk-ons on those days are not available. There have been some members that have come in the morning, when the tee sheet is full, and requested to be inserted into the tee sheet by one of the professional staff. This puts the staff in a difficult position as they are trained to always find a solution and make the members happy. By doing so, they only offend the other members that have times booked around the inserted time. You can see how this would be a no-win scenario for the staff member working at the time. Therefore, on the days that we do not offer walk-on times, please make sure you check the tee sheet on the app, computer or call the pro shop to see if there is anything available that they can fit you in. Please note that the pro shop may pair up twosomes that are back-to-back on the tee sheet to create more bookable times.
The beautiful weather is such a bonus at this time of year. However, we do know that the cooler temperatures will eventually make their way into the area. For many of our members’, Thanksgiving weekend is the last time we will see them at the club until next spring. If you are playing your last round at the club over the next week or so, please ensure you take your clubs home with you as they cannot be stored in the back shop during the winter. Also, for those that have a power caddie, the caddie can stay in storage, the battery and charging cables need to be picked up.
