Aeration Plans
The golf course aeration is planned to start late Sunday evening and although the practice is unfavourable, it is important for the long-term success of the golf course and important for us to provide the conditions that you have come to expect. This year we will not be pulling a core on greens rather we will be topdressing and using a solid tine. Our goal is to minimize pulling up POA seed, create oxygen channels, improve infiltration rates, encourage rooting, and help keep the surfaces firm. We base our aeration decisions on data that includes soil sampling where we also measure organic matter levels and infiltration rates. Our plans are as follows, weather permitting:
Monday August 14 – Front 9 Closed – Aerification of Fairways and Greens – Back 9 Open for Play
Tuesday August 15 – Back 9 Closed – Aerification of Fairways and Greens – Front 9 Open for Play
Wednesday August 16 – Aerification of Tees - Golf Course Opens at 12:00 PM
Divot Day
Due to the aggressive aerification practices, we will be having another member divot day on Wednesday August 23
rd from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. It would be great to see the membership on the 23
rd to continue to help take care of their golf course.
Again, thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to recovering the golf course from aeration so it can be great shape for the latter part of the golf season which always provides for great golfing weather.
Respectfully Submitted,
