Recap on May 16’s tip, “Pace of Play”:
  • On the tee, have your ball, tee and club in hand and ready to hit.
  • Take only one practice swing. The maximum suggested time for taking a shot is 40 seconds.
  • Walk directly to your ball on the fairway (as long as it’s safe) and prepare your club and shot plan while waiting for the others to hit.
  • If someone loses a ball, the other players in the group should hit their shots before helping to search.  The player closest to the hole is the first to help look since they’ll be the last to take the next shot.  The allowable search time has been reduced from 5 to 3 minutes.
  • On the green, line up your putt and read the green while the other players are putting, so when it’s time for you to go, you’re ready.
  • Keep your clubs on the back of the green or nearest to the next tee, so you don’t have to walk around the front of the green to collect your clubs before moving on to the next hole.
  • Write your score on your card well after you’ve left the hole.
  • The expectation at Mad River is to complete 18 holes in 4 ½ hours.  Matches should be less because some putts are given and some holes conceded.

Note:
Don’t forget to record your great gross scores in the white ringer binder located outside the pro shop under the computer.
