Using the Off-Season for Game Improvement

10/5/2022

These Programs are comprehensive so that we can understand why you do what you do on the golf course.  To begin, I evaluate each golfer for any physical limitations which may be affecting their swing.  Being a TPI Level 3 Professional, I use the TPI Physical Screen that involves testing certain golf specific movements, which can be seen below.  This screen allows me to establish if there may be a specific movement that causes your swing issues.  For instance, if you lack sufficient Torso Rotation (see below), you may tend to get into a position at the top of your swing known as Reverse Spine angle, which leads to all sorts of issues, including a loss of speed (distance) and slices off the tee (over-the-top).  This way, we are assessing, and not guessing.

Once we have completed the physical screen, it is time to assess the golf swing.  What I look for at this stage is referred to as The Big 12.  There are essentially 12 swing characteristics (flaws) that have been identified that can be seen in the image below (I know there are only 9 here).   Once we have identified any movement limitations, we will then see a pattern for “flaws” in the golf swing.

For instance, if you have tightness or pain in your low back, it will show manifest in your golf swing as one of these swing characteristics, such as Flat Shoulder Plane, which will then lead to things like topping the ball or hitting the ground behind the ball.  Therefore, assessing is important.

Once we identify the swing characteristics, it is time to get to work.  Through the TPI App, I develop a workout routine for you that you can work on either at home alone, or with a Physiotherapist or Personal Trainer.

My partner Alex is a Physiotherapist, working toward her TPI Level 3 Medical Certification and will assist you in your process alongside me.  Having a Medical Professoinal on my team ensures me that you are in the proper hands to get moving the way you need to so that you can add both yards and years to your game!

This is how the TPI Program works around the globe.  TPI Certified Golf Professionals surround themselves with the best Medical and Fitness Professionals who also play the game and understand the golf swing so that golfers have access to a team that is there for them.  Our goal is simply to help golfers move better, so they can feel better and swing better.  We are golfers helping golfers.

If you would like to learn more, please get in touch with me either via email or text (include your name) and I’d be glad to set up a time to either meet in person or over the phone.  My contact details are below.

Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope this motivates you towards taking the next step in improving your game.
