Men's Captain Report

9/27/2022

Year End Shootout
Despite less then desirable weather conditions for the year end shootout, thirteen of twenty-four gents that qualified from their weekly closest to the pins showed up sporting their long johns and toques. The shot was from 146 yards out from the 9th fairway to the white flag on 9. Each man had two opportunities to get the ball closest to the hole. Congratulations to George Pengelley our Grand Champ for the year long competition. George stuck it in there to 8’11” for the win. Congrats to Andrew Senior for second place at 10’1” and John Leitch for third place at 11’2”.

These Gents will split the pot that was north of $900 dollars. Nice way to conclude the season. For next year, this may be a reminder that the more weeks you show up, the greater chance you have to get into the final shootout!

Conclusion
We have learned a lot from this year’s version of the Mad Men’s League. I have had some great feedback/suggestions from a number of you. Next year Carl, his team and myself promise to have better line of communication on a weekly basis. To be completely transparent we came up with the idea of Men’s Mad League, but did not truly know how it was going to unfold. At the beginning of next year, we will meet as a team, and communicate how everything will unfold right out of the gate.

One aspect of the weekly format and of greatest importance to many, is the decision to do weekly Shot Guns or tee times. Gents, I can tell you the feedback is 50/50 on this. So we will have to find away to speed up play if we do hold a weekly shot gun. Most agree that speed of play is important to them. Personally, I do enjoy a larger crowd finishing at the same time and enjoying food and a refreshment for the après portion of the day.
