Men's Captain Report

7/27/2022

Men's Mad League

This past week a few trades were made amongst the teams to even out the playing field. The current standings are tight and will certainly bring excitement for the playoffs. In the coming weeks we will try and pair you up with another member of your team to play two other members from another team. The standings as of this week look like this:

Young Bucks          141

Team Purple Hill     137

Team Mulmer          132

The Wild Ones        130

Mad Men                 128

The Undertakers     128

Arnies Army             114

Participation is key to the success of your team so try and get out.

Gents please be patient with the back and forth with the tee time versus shotgun formats. If we are unable to shut down the tee times earlier before the proposed shot guns, we will experience slow play again as we did this past week. If the numbers continue to grow, we will certainly be in a position to request and warrant an earlier closure.

Men's Club Championship

The sign-up is now online or in the Pro Shop for the Men's Club C, which will be held on Sat., August 13 and Sun, August 14. So far it looks like great participation. Lets keep those names coming! Challenge yourself and have fun. Remember as I have indicated before, 'no one remembers nor cares what you shoot."

 In the Loop

Mad River too easy for some:

We’ve all felt the joy of being on a green in reg with a chance to win a skin, only to 3-putt our way to despair; 2 members recently took matters into their own hands and decided that Chad’s trickery with the greens was no longer to be tolerated. First Jeff Eichenberger holed out for eagle on #9 in the practice round of the member guest. It took a while to take the shot, as Jeff had to wait for the first tee, the new patio, and the 18th green to clear before he could safely hit the shot. Once no one was in danger, he pured a 9-iron which hopped once and dropped in for a 2 net 1. Great skin.

Not to be outdone, On July 26, on the 11th hole,  Mike Rothfeld (“Rocky”, aka “The Rockstar” to his playing partners), holed a 7 iron for his second ace of the year. Being a quick learner, and in need of cash to pay his pending bar bill, Rocky applied his newfound skills to the 12th hole where he holed out for an eagle net 1. Back to back eagles, and back to back “Net 1”s!

Chad has submitted a request to Golf and Greens "to have the holes smaller and the greens quicker as Mad River no longer presents the challenge that Mr Cupp envisioned”.

 Great shots guys.
