This past Tuesday was a great opportunity to test the system and introduce to our members at the club. We received half an inch or rain early in the morning which resulted in cart path only for holes 2, 10, 15 and 17. With the old carts, even know members are informed of the rule of the day, most forget by the time they get to the back nine. It is all too common for Chad and his team to find tire marks across these fairways even though they were out of play. We turned on the cart path only rule for these select holes and some members were surprised by the inability to proceed on the fairway.
I inserted an image below of our 17
th hole. In this image, the orange lined area indicates a cart path only restriction. This allows carts to travel on the path and then cross the fairway in the lay up area to proceed to the path, left of the hole as you approach the green. If a cart enters this area on a cart path only day, the speed of the cart drops to 5mph. At the same time, the screen prompts a message informing the player that the hole is cart path only, please proceed back to cart path. Once the cart returns to the path (exiting the restricted area) the cart speed will return to normal.
Once again, this This past Tuesday was our first “test” of the new system for both members and staff. We received some valuable feedback that we can implement moving forward. Chad and I will continue to work together with the new system to help keep our carts out of sensitive areas which will ultimately result in less damage and better conditions to the turf.
A reminder that next Friday, July 22
nd, is our Men’s Member Guest. The golf course and food and beverage will be closed all day for the event. The format for the day is three 9-hole shotguns starting at 9:00am. The practice facilities will be closed in the morning until after the players tee off for their first 9 holes.
We have a few fit days coming up over the next week including Titleist on July 16
th, Taylormade on July 20
th and finally XXIO/Srixon/Cleveland on July 23
