Our members that enjoyed the new YELLOW tees last season will also notice that there is a new rating and slope. When the new tees were opened, I heard from a lot of members that said they were finding a lot more enjoyment when teeing it forward. The biggest reason for this, lower scores! This makes a lot of sense considering the new yardage sits at 4013 yards compared to 4379 yards. As a result of this reduction in distance, Golf Ontario has revised the rating and slope for these tees to the following:
Men’s OLD 63.5/117 NEW 61.8/115 ~ Ladies OLD 67.3/119 NEW 65.2/115
The next item I would like to point out that will be new for our members is your bag tag. These will be available starting on this weekend for our members that come to use the range or simply want to drop off their clubs. The new tags are Canadian made by Dormie. Dormie is well known for their premium leather headcovers. The tags they created for our members utilizes their thickest cut of leather embossed with the Mad River logo. It will certainly be unique and a nice touch on your golf bag!
The tags will also include a number which correlates with your stall number in the back shop. There was a lot of time spent over the off-season on ways to improve our back shop department. One area that was identified that could be improved upon was our storage system for our bags and power caddies. The old system created a lot of inefficiencies and confusion at times with the staff, especially new hires. The system being implemented this season will resolve a lot of issues and is a BIG step in the right direction towards elevating the service we provide our members and guests in this area.
With the range open this weekend, we will also have the pro shop open as well from 10am – 6pm. This will be the first opportunity for our members to check out the latest offerings in the shop. Whereas hard goods/golf clubs have continued to be a challenge sourcing product, thankfully our apparel partners have been able to deliver on most of our spring bookings so far. We have our most popular brands returning for both men’s and ladies along with some new offerings. My personal favourite polo that has arrived so far is the “Happy Gilmore” polo courtesy of Peter Millar.
A reminder that I will be hosting a Rules Seminar next Friday at 4:30pm. There is no need to RSVP for this seminar. You can simply join us in the clubhouse with a glass of wine or a pint of Creemore. The format will be a short presentation followed by Q&A.
Look forward to teeing it up next week and getting our 2022 season started!
