Golf Operations Update

4/13/2021

The conclusion of the Masters means our golf season is right around the corner. With our opening day projected for later this month, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with the members some of the changes we are making to help address some of the concerns around access to the tee.
  • Starting earlier: Our first tee time in peak season will be 7:30am Monday to Friday and 7:00am on Weekends & Holidays. This change adds a minimum of 12 players to our day.
  • Adjusting tee time intervals: Last season our interval was 10 minutes. This season we will be moving to 9 minutes. This will create seven additional times throughout the day which accounts for 28 players.
  • Pairing of groups: The Golf Shop will be more proactive in pairing up groups to maximize the tee sheet, particularly on weekends. One of the issues experienced by our members last season was the number of twosomes back-to-back. This would create frustration/disappointment for members trying to book a foursome. Therefore, the Golf Shop will be pairing up as much as possible to create more availability.
  • No shows: This was another issue experienced by our member’s last season. The Golf Shop will be tracking no shows this year in an effort to minimize the number of unused times.
We are anticipating high demand for tee times this year and we feel as though these changes will address our issues. The Golf Shop and management will continue to monitor utilization and access to the tee once the season gets started and make further adjustments if required.

Another area of golf that is experiencing unprecedented demand is equipment sales. Those that ordered golf clubs last year would have likely waited a little longer than normal for them to arrive. Unfortunately, the demand is not slowing down and companies continue to have issues with manufacturing while dealing with covid protocols of their own. My advice, if you need new clubs, do not wait! Having said that, we have partnered with Titleist, Ping, Callaway and Cobra this year in the shop. All of these brands have exciting new product for the 2021 season. I have scheduled fitting days with all of these manufacturer’s which will be promoted in the coming weeks along with information on signing up.

I have received some questions in regard to junior programming this season, in particular summer camps and clinics. Our Director of Instruction, Ryan Rinneard, has created plans for this season which is outlined in his Mad Post article. The goal of the programs will be to provide first class instruction in a fun environment, while following covid protocols to ensure safety for everyone involved.

Finally, with our Covid Task Force meeting this week, I will include more detailed information on our opening protocols for Covid in next weeks Post in preparation for opening day.

I look forward to meeting everyone in the coming weeks, in the meantime you can reach me by phone at 705-428-3673 or via email at [email protected]
