Junior Programs and Camps

4/8/2021

Junior “Camps” will run in both July and August this season with a similar format to the 2020 programs.  Due to Coronavirus, we will continue to limit participation to 4:1, student to coach.  If there are more than 4 signs ups per session, we will add an additional coach and work through stations, maintaining the 4:1 ratio.  We will also be reintroducing Level 1 (Age 5 & 6) this season, but still restricting Tiny Tot participation (U-5).  For more information on our Junior “Camps”, please read the details below.

Additionally, for 2021, we will be initiating a weekly program for Junior Development.  Mad36 will be a developmental program designed to progress golfers towards shooting par or better for 9 holes.  This model resembles what Coach Rudy Duran did with a young Tiger Woods, when he created “Tiger Par”.  Many Junior golfers become discouraged playing from the full tees, simply because they do not hit it quite far enough yet.  Learning the game from the hole backwards is a successful formula that we look forward to offering in 2021.  For more information, please contact Ryan at [email protected].

Finally, for both Parents and Juniors, we will be hosting Parent/Junior Evenings with contests and prizes for both parents and juniors.  We will use a variety of formats and games to ensure that the name of the game is FUN!  (Details to come)

2021 Junior Camps
Junior “Camps” will be offered in the months of July and August and will resemble the same framework as the 2020 season.   Masks will be required for each session, however, distancing protocols may reduce the need to wear them at all times.   As well, your child’s temperature will be taken each day of the camp prior to the sessions.

With limited space available on the practice facilities due to social distancing, programs will be offered with a participation rate of 4:1, students to coach, with a maximum of 8 participants in total and programs will run for 90 minutes each day for 5 days.  The 4:1 ratio will also mean that your child will be receiving more one-on-one time with their coach.

In order to accommodate social distancing, stations will be set up for larger group sizes.  We will maintain a 4:1 ratio, working our way through the various stations.

For registration, our priority will be for the current junior members to have the opportunity to sign up for their lessons first.  This will take place on Monday May 3rd, starting at 8:30am.  To register, you must call into the pro shop on this day.  There will be no pre-registering again this year.

On Wednesday May 5th at 8:30am, we will open registration to the immediate family.  If you have a child or grandchild who is not an active member, you will have the opportunity to sign them up on this date.

NEW for this year:  If your child has a friend that is close to your family bubble, we will allow them to participate this year.  We ask that you use your best judgement.  You may call in on the second day of registration, Wednesday May 5th at 8:30am to register a friend for your child.

While we would love to offer business as usual, there will be certain age restrictions due to Coronavirus.  It is for this reason that once again we will not be offering Tiny Tots this season, however we will add Level 1 to the offerings this year.  As a parent of a 6-year old, I believe they are well aware of Coronavirus Protocol.

The following schedule will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis:

The pricing structure will be the same for all levels and will be $250 per participant.
Here is the age breakdown of each level:

Level 1: 5 & 6 years old
Level 2: 7 & 8 years old
Level 3: 9 & 10 years old
Level 4: 11+ years old
*Level 5 Advanced:  Participants must display a certain aptitude to play at an advanced level to participate.

Please note that lunches and beverages will not be provided again this year as they were in previous years. Please ensure that your junior golfer has adequate food and water to get them through each session.  Your child must have sunscreen applied prior to participating.

Also, we know how much each junior golfer enjoys their cart rides, however due to Coronavirus and physical distancing, this will not be an option this year.

GOLF BALLS:  While on the putting green or chipping green, participants must use their own golf balls to eliminate the possible spread of the virus.  Golf balls should be marked as they would be on the golf course.  As part of the registration fee, we will provide each participant with a sleeve of golf balls that they may use for the week.

Some important housekeeping notes

We are all aware that this is not business as usual and our utmost priority is to protect the health and well-being of your junior golfer, your household, our professional staff, and every other member of Mad River.

If at any point, any of the participants are not adhering to social distancing protocols, there will be a 3-strike rule:
  1. A warning is issued, and the parent is informed
  2. The junior golfer is sent home for the day
  3. The junior golfer is excused from the week of lessons

Thank you for taking the time and we look forward to seeing some little golfers on the practice facilities again real soon!

Sincerely,

Ryan Rinneard
