I wanted to let you all know that the Board has voted to form a Long Range Planning Task Force. The mandate of the task force is to assist the Board of Directors in consolidating the planning work from various committees for potential enhancements to the Club and bring these recommendations together into one document. It is our hope that this document will form the basis for a cohesive plan that can be reviewed and updated by subsequent boards. Enhancements that call for substantial change will be brought to the membership for approval.
The Task Force is populated by a group who are representative of the membership of the club in age, gender, residence, as well as a mix of Directors and Members at Large. Chairing this important committee will be David Seville, joined by directors Doug Painter, Rosemary McIntosh, Chris Key, and Teri Yamada, and members at large Bob Astley, David Woolcombe, Chris Cook, Diana Miotto, Michelle Hayward, and Dean Henry. Claire Angus will lead with the financial modelling that may arise from recommendations. Thank you to all for offering your time.
One other matter that I wanted to bring forward is that Mad River is a club established by values not rules. One of those values that has served the club so well has been our “respect for the course”. With the increase in rounds played, it has become even more important that we all do our part to maintain the course. I ask you all to be sure to take and use the seed bottles provided to fill in any divots you come across and to repair any pitch marks on the greens. If we all do our part Mad will continue to enjoy the reputation it has earned as one of the best conditioned courses in the province.
