As a follow up to my initial post to the Mens membership, I can report that I have met and corresponded with a cross section of the male membership for their feedback. Through these meetings I was able to glean a myriad of ideas that may require change in some of the Men’s events.
I’m sure we would all agree that sometimes change is needed so that we can become more inclusive and accommodating to all age categories of our membership.
One of the common recommendations that appeared to be at the forefront, was building a more robust and inclusive Wednesday Men’s Day. Although we have had some improvement in the past few years, our current format caters to those members from our retiree community. I have forwarded some of the ideas to Carl who has a variety of past experiences from his previous clubs. He is receptive to change however cautiously advises that what has worked at some clubs may not always work here.
Therefore if we are to focus on a new look for Wednesday Mens Day we have to develop a “home grown solution”.
As it pertains to the remainder of the Mens Events calendar, the younger membership would like to eventually see enhancements that would make it more desirable and possible for them to join in. i.e. Member/Member and even the possibility of Match Play events to crown Club Champions.
For the 2022 season, we hope to re introduce the Inter Club events such as the Mountain Cup, Barrie Inter Club and Beacon Hall event.
I’m sure we can all agree that there is some effort required to make our experience at Mad an even better one then we currently enjoy. We have the next six months to discuss and agree on the aforementioned solution.
Until next time. Have a wonderful winter, and stay active!
