When you hear the horns or see lightning
If you’re on the course and hear the siren, get to the rain shelters between #5 tee and #17 fairway or on the north side of #16 as quickly as possible. The washrooms at #6 and #15 tees are also good shelters. Only try to get to the clubhouse if you’re in the immediate vicinity. If these options aren’t available, dense woods and low-lying areas are preferable to open areas, elevated ground and tall trees. Stay there until the weather has abated. And turn off your cell phone!
Power carts will NOT protect you from lightning strikes. It’s very important that you DO NOT attempt to drive your cart back to the clubhouse after the alarm has
sounded. Please be aware that, in the interests of their own safety, staff are not permitted to provide rides to Members after the horns are activated by lightning in the area.
When you hear three short blasts from the sirens, the danger has generally passed. Again, please use your good sense as a guide to whether or not you should be on the course.
