COVID – 19 Update

We are now approaching our third weekend under our COVID protocols. What have we noticed and what are our concerns?

  • The course is busier than usual, we anticipated this based on experiences from colleagues out west that had already opened. With limited other recreational activities available, golf has been a beneficiary of this additional time.
  • While this is positive news indeed, it has been more difficult for members looking to golf, primarily on weekends. We believe this will begin to normalize in coming weeks as other activities come on line, the tee opens earlier and as members become more comfortable pairing up with others again.
  • TBD Bookings – The COVID Task Force, Board and Management continue to support allowing members that are anxious about the virus to fill out their tee time using TBD. As mentioned above we are already seeing members becoming more comfortable with others and we anticipate this will continue in coming weeks. However, in consideration of other members, if you;
  1. Know who will be joining your group, do not use the TBD option, use the members correct name.
  2. If you are comfortable with others joining your group do not block off the other positions using the TBD option.
  • The membership are diligently following the protocols in place and this has been extremely helpful, thank you!

If we do not see the weekend access begin to normalize in coming weeks, we have strategies in place to assist us through this situation.

When will our other Services Open?

Everyone is processing this situation differently and some members are less anxious about the pandemic than others. They are looking to have services open up more quickly and move into a more normal environment.

The COVID Task Force, Board and Management are committed to following government and health and safety guidelines in our efforts to not only provide the safest environment we can, but also to do what we can to ensure we are permitted to stay open. Our worst-case scenario is golf courses be required to close again.

By-law officers have been visiting clubs throughout the GTA and I expect we will be visited in the coming weeks. I have already received a call from the alcohol and gaming commission inquiring about our protocols and procedures.

We still have no visibility on timing to open the clubhouse and restaurant, but I expect within the month we should be given permission by the Premier.

Health and Safety officials are looking at the back shop and storage and I expect we will have more news on this within the next couple weeks.

This week we began phase 2 of our plans to begin opening our services up safely and gradually. All the latest updates can be found under the COVID heading on the website.

The practice facilities are open on an appointment only basis. We don’t anticipate the practice areas to be overly busy, but the appointments are primarily a control measure to ensure we comply with gatherings. Our concern is there is nowhere for you to go and wait if the range is full and you arrive without an appointment.  Once the restaurant opens and there is a place to wait, we expect these appointments won’t be necessary.

The pro shop has opened this week and there is a short video to provide some sense of what to expect once you arrive.

Lessons are also available and you may book with Ryan directly or through the pro shop.

Guests within the same household are also permitted. Please be advised that all guest must sign the COVID declaration in order to be permitted to golf.
